Thank You Zap Electric ~ I’ll have my Pizza without Carbon Emissions

ZAP World announced yesterday that as part of their worldwide rally in Las Vegas, they approached Dominoes to deliver pizzas using their Xebra electric car. I think this is a great marketing idea as well as getting to point of electric vehicles. Since most people drive about 40 miles a day to and from work, this is mode of transit (assuming bike or public transit is not an option) is perfect. Just get to work, plug it in, and you’re all set for the day.

Here are a few more links to some other related reason why electric vehicles or using alternate means of transportation is both good for the environment and good for your wallet:

It’s a good idea. They won’t have to rely on some highschooler driving around his or her old 1985 Buick LeSabre.

I’ve delivered pizzas, drove big trucks, operated my own taxi. Back in the day, I drove my taxicab around 250 miles a day, 7 days a week. During my very brief purgatory delivering pizzas, I drove well over 100 miles a night. 40 miles a day may seem like a lot, but you can’t make many 5-mile pizza runs (that’s round trips, most pizza places only deliver within a radius of 3 miles) if your delivery car fizzles after only 40 miles. 40/5 = 8 trips, tipping $2 per trip leaves the driver with $16 for the night’s work.
Did Dominos do the math here? Do they pay their drivers?

I am sure Dominos have done feasibility studies and this is a great idea for companies such as Dominos to shift to EVs for their deliveries. ZAP has a wide range of vehicles (http://www.zapworld.com) and some more very promising new products and joint ventures in the pipeline.
